Take the Class

Growing up, my parents emphasized hard work and schooling.  I, on the other hand, had other plans.  I never wanted to "be" anything but a wife and mother.  That was my dream.
Life happened and the dream I had of being a full-time, stay at home momma wasn't the plan God had for me.  Through circumstances and choices I had made, I found out at an early age that I was going to have to work.
Because my parents had insisted that my sister and I take college-prep courses "just in case" in high school and not just the bare basics to get by and graduate, I was well prepared to begin in college and take the classes I needed.  I still had to study--a LOT.  I still had to put the work in.  But I didn't start out already behind.
Now, just so no one is confused--I didn't accept her advice at the time.  In fact, talking to me at that age was like talking to a brick wall (no joke).  However, as years went by and plans changed, I appreciated her words.
